Since it’s now 2018 in Japan, Kazuchika Okada has become the first person in history to hold the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for a full calendar year (Jan 1 – Dec 31)

I believe the closest someone came to holding the title for a full calendar year prior to this is Tanahashi in 2011 where he held the title from January 4th past the end of the year.
