[Spoilers C2E2] Let’s love and respect Marisha Ray more
Sorry I'm quite new to this subreddit and I haven't even watched more than one episode of campaign one even though I'm watching campaign two live but already I've noticed a pattern on this subreddit and elsewhere.
When Marisha does something silly, she gets criticized for it heavily in twitch chat and the live discussion thread. For example when she went to go save Toya. It was pretty clear she thought the guards were gonna pin it on her because last session everyone was saying that Toya's singing started then the man died. Everyone was calling her stupid.
Then when she was caught by the guards and wanted to do some monk shit, everyone called her stupid for that and said she was trying to get Beau killed. Instead of just forgetting their characters were level 2 and maybe having a reason in her backstory to not trust guards.
Finally the "meta insight roll". That was not really meta at all. If you rewatch episode one, the first non DM mandated roll Marisha makes is an insight roll on Nott. Beau doesn't trust her and has no reason to. Nott had already pulled a sword on them and Sam was playing up Nott's 5 charisma and shiftiness.
Then compare this to Laura. When Laura does something a little silly or that doesn't make sense people think it's endearing. Like when Jester tried to hide in the lake even though the shore only has like a foot of water. Or when Laura got confused and thought Travis was saying Toya was Beau's sister.
I've even heard from my boyfriend that people hate Marisha. I'm trying to get him to watch critical role with me and he said the only thing he knows about it from 4chan is that there's one girl they all hate and her name starts with an M.
So I don't know why people dislike her. Maybe it's something she did in the last campaign. I wouldn't know. But before you criticize something, think on if you'd say something if it was done by someone else's character. Would it still bother you or are you bothered because Marisha did it? And let's try and respect everyone. These people are human and make mistakes this is just supposed to be a fun game with friends that they let us watch.
