XMPP is being removed from all Cryptic titles and gold spamming may be due to Neverwinter.
The same message was copy/pasted to all 3 games and the service is being removed from all here.

STO and Champions both required LTS to access XMPP, but Neverwinter has no LTS and it just requires the $10/month VIP which is 1000 zen so it is incredibly cheap to buy VIP accounts and spam the messages everywhere since if you only get one or two people to buy gold from the spam you've made it back per character. According to the commenter gold spamming was pretty rampant in Neverwinter as well.
I'm never a fan of features being removed even if it's one that I didn't use like this one but I was upset at the reasoning as well. With this information that it's being removed from the entire companies games and how easy and cheap it is to get access on neverwinter, and the same message for all 3 games the story starts to come into focus a lot more in my opinion.
