A few of my Inspiration Pad Pro tables uploaded to GitHub for easy GM’ing
I saw that there was a thread on this Reddit a few years ago about Inspiration Pad Pro. I LOVE that program, and use it on a weekly (more like daily during the coronavirus lockdown) basis. I've been using IPP for years to create random stuff for campaigns, and add elements into short stories I've written. I love how easy it is to create tables, tweak them, and generate stuff for a campaign.
I've uploaded some of my best tables to GitHub where I update them as I use them.
The most esoteric table I wrote is Master Alchemist's Cookbook. It's useful for some absolutely off-the-wall recipes that will almost certainly have interesting game changing effects (most players will end up with some crazy phobia). Here's an example:
The symptoms may also be random, but you're 99% likely to be screwed by this recipe.
My other generators are not quite so wild, but are more useful for planning campaigns and games.
My most useful generator at the moment is Instant Plot. I find it incredibly useful to generate random campaigns, and then play the random result. It generates the Setting that the game takes place in, then defines what Tone the game will be played in, and the expected Population you might encounter in the game. Then it randomly generates Things and Actions to help the inspiration process along.
I'm constantly tweaking this one, especially now during quarantine as i use it so much.
Skyscrapers and monkeys? Sounds like a winner!
I've recently been playing the Mythic game system a lot, as I don't always have a crew to play with. Mythic allows play as a single-player, with the Fate Chart and other generators adding random elements to the game as I play.
In order to make the character generation process easier, I wrote a Mythic Character Generator. I've tweaked this one extensively so that it generates not only a fairly balanced character, but also generates a possible spectrum of abilities that a character may have access to. Abilities have a 20% chance to be Illegal or Darkweb (but as you can see from the following example, some skills make no sense with the Darkweb or Illegal modifier applied to them).
So those are my generators. Do you guys have any interesting IPP tables you would like to share?
