ELI5: why don’t people bring up Gjoni’s allegation of non-consensual sex to counter the “GG is harassment” narrative?
I was reading the ZP summary here and it brought this up in my mind again.
One of the things that Gjoni said most excited him about Zoe was her enthusiastic embrace of this idea:
Views on the ethics of infidelity. Which she maintained is inherently wrong even if the person who was cheated on never finds out, because (aside from willfully endangering their partner by way of increased STD risk) if the unfaithful party then has sex with their partner, they are doing so under false pretenses, and therefore without their partner’s consent. That is, sex with a partner who doesn’t know you’ve cheated on them is sex without consent.
What bothers me is that she has basically clearly defined a version of non-consensual sex and then engaged in it, and then claims she was abused. By her own definition the sex was non-consensual, and it seems that this aspect is rarely if ever brought up. One of the main fake news themes about GG by the anti is the idea that "GG is a harassment campaign". If GG is, so is #metoo–imagine wikipedia describing it as, say, a bunch of people "harassing" Weinstein et al after some "estranged starlets" made "HarveyPosts" because they were unhappy with how their relationships with him turned out.
Big surprise, I know, an SJW double standard. But I feel like at least there should be (or should have been more) discussed down this line as a counter to the idea that Gjoni was just a whiny jilted lover–the major claim he makes about the ethical position of the zoepost is that he's warning other people about a deceptive, gaslighting person who is making the rounds. It seems to me that is painfully obviously just as legitimate to make those claims public as it is for anyone who was the victim of non-consensual sex to make their claims public, in the interest of protecting other people. This is the express motivation for the Zoepost, but I don't feel that the most powerful claim–that Zoe subjected Gjoni to non-consensual sex by her own standard–is sufficiently brought out, particularly as the strong defense that I think it would be against the harassment narrative. Maybe someone did this and I didn't see it?
