Feats in 3 +the templates of 4 & 5 are mechanically no different than 2nd edition’s kits.
I loved kits, though the brown books weren’t consistent. Since they were easy to make, race + class + class kit + kit based on country of origin could achieve whatever pc or npc desired.

The start of Living City corrupted the game in many ways. Now, you play your own creation, but 90% of the players play themselves. Or themselves being a dick, tbh. Living Greyhawk through today’s Pathfinder Society/Adventurers League have driven this 25+ years.
