Anita and other SJWs claim GDC is unsafe now. Call for men to step in and help save them
I'm happy that #saferGDC is bringing exposure to the fact that GDC is not a safe place but I want to be mindful of the fact that when a man is aggressively hitting on you or engaging in predatory behaviour it's not like you can just open twitter in that moment for support.
Let's be cautious about providing a platform for men who can play "ally" on Twitter but don't do anything in their lives to change their behaviours or the industry (or might be predatory/abusive themselves).
Men: if you actually care about this problem then be observant, notice body language, intervene or check in on situations that seem questionable. Talk to other men about these issues regularly no matter how uncomfortable it makes you.
Let's be careful we don't venture into victim blaming here because this is similar to advising women to learn self defense to fight predators. Men who engage in predatory behaviour are squarely at fault here and their behaviour needs to stop.
Nothing says strong independent woman like calling for men to step in to help because some-one is hitting on them and they seemingly can't express that they're not interest and what is an industry event.
