As a lifelong southern wrestling fan, it's always been bittersweet watching WWE. It's good to still have extremely accessible wrestling, and that they talk about the legacies of these old wrestlers, but it still always felt like watching "the enemy" because that's what they were back during the rivalry.

Well I went to Starrcade last night, and I got to experience things I truly thought were impossible now. The arena actually looked like a Starrcade arena. I was in the Greensboro Coliseum. There was minimal mention of the WWE network, or upcoming PPVs, or anything modern.

We got to see Arn Anderson, Ricky Steamboat, The Rock n Roll Express, and of course Ric Flair. There was a video package dedicated to each of them that played before they were introduced, and they each even had new wrestlers come out and talk about how they were their inspiration and what they mean to the business. Then even the next match was essentially played out like an old school match that those wrestlers would be in.

Of course they talked about Dusty, played his RIP video package, and then the next match was Dustin Rhodes (I'm sure you've seen the video on r/sc already). After his match he talked about how after all his career, with the ups and the downs, being here tonight, as Dustin Rhodes, wrestling in Greensboro in a whole event essentially dedicated to his father, is truly his proudest moment.

Hell I even saw Arn Anderson do a spinebuster! In Greensboro! At Starrcade! Live! I would never have thought to get the chance to see that in my life. Never.

Last night this arena in my home was referred to as THE Madison Square Garden for this generation of wrestlers by Arn. To hear that at what's essentially a WWE show meant a whole lot to someone like me.

I know this has been a rant, and I talked for a long time without really saying anything, but I still have the goosebumps and I had to talk about it somewhere.

So honestly, thank you WWE for giving true honor to this era of wrestling, without at all making it about yourselves like you tend to.
